On 24 July 2025, Google rolled out three artificial intelligence shopping features to all U.S. users of Search and Google Shopping: virtual try-on for user photos, more granular price alerts, and an upcoming "AI Mode" that surfaces shoppable inspiration inside search results.
What’s new
- Virtual try-on for user photos: Shoppers can upload a full-length picture and see how apparel looks on their own image within Search, Shopping, and Images.
- Smarter price tracking: Users can set alerts by size, color, and target price. When the Shopping Graph - now indexing more than 35 billion product listings - detects a match, it sends a notification.
- AI Mode for inspiration: Launching this autumn, the mode will generate outfit and room concepts, then surface product links that match visual queries such as "green flowy dress" or "coastal bedroom design."
Background
Google previewed the features at I/O 2025. Virtual try-on first appeared in June 2023 for static product images; the latest release extends it to personal photos, narrowing the gap between online and in-store experiences.
Price alerts debuted in 2019 but previously lacked variant-level filters. Google says the added controls should reduce the need for constant manual checks.
