Minimalist dashboard revealing channel level ROI with stacked ROI bars budget pie and reveal toggle

Google is expanding Performance Max reporting in Google Ads, adding asset-level segmentation and a beta channel performance report. The features are rolling out gradually across advertiser accounts.

What's new

Asset reports now support segmentation by device, time, conversion action, and network. A new Network with search partners view is available in asset group reports.

The channel performance report (beta) breaks down results and costs by Google surfaces in a single view. It includes ROI-style columns, budget distribution across surfaces, and account-level bulk downloads. See the official updates.

  • The Network view covers YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail, and Maps (updates).
  • Results can be segmented by conversion action and ad-event type in the channel report (updates).
  • Cost columns and bulk downloads are supported at the account level (updates).

How to read the data

  • Results are primary conversions grouped by goal. Conversions can include secondary actions (help doc).
  • Asset metrics can exceed campaign totals because assets accrue metrics independently (help doc).
  • Asset-level ratios like CTR, CPC, CPA, and ROAS are approximate (help doc).

Availability and access

The channel performance report is in beta and will roll out gradually (updates). Access it in Google Ads under Insights and reports (help doc).

Background

Performance Max is an automated campaign type that serves ads across YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail, and Maps. Bidding, budgeting, creatives, and placements are managed by Google's systems. The channel performance report shows how each surface contributes to primary goals, while asset reports list individual assets with impressions, clicks, and costs tracked independently.
