Google announced new ways to share shipping and returns policies on November 12, 2025, including Search Console configuration for eligible online merchants and organization-level shipping policy structured data. The rollout is global over the coming weeks.
Key updates
- Shipping and returns settings in Search Console are now available to sites identified as online merchants.
- Previously, this required a configured Merchant Center account. That limitation is removed for eligible sites.
- Policies configured in Search Console take priority over site structured data.
- Google introduced organization-level shipping policy structured data. See the implementation guide for required properties and examples.
- Use organization-level markup for site-wide rules. Product-level shipping policies still take priority for specific items.
Markup guidance
Google recommends nesting shipping policy markup under Organization and placing it on your shipping policy page. Review the Organization structured data guidance. Businesses can use suitable Organization subtypes such as OnlineStore or LocalBusiness when appropriate.
Validate your markup with the Rich Results Test. The tool accepts page URLs or code snippets.
Where policies may appear in Search
Google says fulfillment policies may surface more broadly in Search, including in knowledge panels, brand profiles, and product results.
Rollout and credits
The update began November 12, 2025, with a global rollout over the coming weeks. The announcement credits software engineers Pascal Fleury and Irina Tuduce, and Product Manager Jay Rana.
Background
In July 2024, Google added shipping and return policies to Search Console for Merchant Center merchants. In June 2024, Google enabled organization-level return policy structured data. Before this update, shipping policy markup existed only at the product level in merchant listing structured data. Organization-level shipping policy now reduces per-product markup for site-wide rules.
Get started
- Open Search Console and look for Shipping and returns settings if your site qualifies as an online merchant.
- Implement organization-level shipping policy markup using the Search Central guide and reference the merchant listing shipping markup for product-specific details.
- Validate with the Rich Results Test.
- For questions, visit the Google Search Central Community.
