Google is also extending its virtual shopping tools to Circle to Search on supported Android devices. In markets where apparel virtual try-on is already available across Google product listings, users can access the same experience straight from on-screen content.

After circling an outfit, users can select "Try On" for eligible products to see how items look on model images that represent a range of body types. They can then virtually try on individual pieces without leaving the page or app they are viewing.

Gemini 3 behind multi-object search

Google attributes the new Circle to Search experience to its Gemini 3 model. According to the company, Gemini 3 uses planning, reasoning and tool use to process complex visual queries.

The system automatically identifies key regions of an image, crops them, runs several searches in parallel, then cross-references the results. Google describes this as an expansion of its "visual query fan-out" technique, where the model generates a final response that groups results by object. Each group can include images and information drawn from across the web.

Circle to Search adoption context

Circle to Search launched in 2024 on select Android phones, allowing users to search anything visible on their screens using gestures like circling or highlighting. Since launch, Google says users have generated billions of queries per month.
