Alphabet's Google rolled out a slate of artificial intelligence enhancements in July 2025, touching Search, Photos, Shopping, research tools and cybersecurity. Most features launched first in the United States and will reach more than 150 additional markets by early August.

Key July AI Updates

The release targets back-to-school research, creative content and safer browsing.

  • AI Mode in Search now answers Canvas planning, live video and PDF queries directly in the results page.
  • Circle to Search and Lens recognize in-game timestamps and surface contextual guides, articles and videos.
  • NotebookLM adds Video Overviews plus a Studio panel that turns notes into mind maps and study guides.
  • Veo 3, a photo-to-video tool, expands to 150 countries for Google AI Pro subscribers. Gemini users can turn still images into eight-second clips with sound, while Flow layers background noise and dialogue on top.
  • Google Photos gains animation, 3D art and remix options.
  • Virtual try-on lets U.S. shoppers upload a photo to preview clothing fit, complete with sizing alerts.
  • DeepMind introduced Aeneas to restore Latin inscriptions and AlphaEarth Foundations, a model that maps Earth in unprecedented detail.
  • An autonomous AI agent identified and patched a live security flaw before attackers could exploit it.
  • Alphabet also finalized a $3 billion deal with Brookfield to renovate two Pennsylvania hydropower plants, securing low-carbon power for its data centers.

Why It Matters

Google has invested in machine learning for more than two decades, leveraging custom silicon and vast datasets. The Gemini model family, introduced publicly in December 2023, now underpins Search, Workspace and Android assistance. Regular feature drops - such as the July 2025 rollout - keep the ecosystem competitive, encourage user engagement and synchronize capabilities across regions.
