Reddit search quietly tops 70M weekly - the AI leap you missed

Reddit told shareholders that weekly searches on its platform now exceed 70 million and that Reddit Answers, its AI-generated response feature, serves roughly six million users each week - a fivefold increase since the previous quarter. The figures were disclosed in the company’s Q2 2025 shareholder letter.

Reddit prioritizes search with AI answers

Chief executive Steve Huffman said the platform’s nearly two decades of discussion threads give it "material you can’t find anywhere else" for answer generation. Over the next 12 months the company will focus on three areas: improving search, refining its core product, and accelerating international growth. Part of that plan involves embedding AI summaries directly within search results.

Key details on user growth and feature rollout

Reddit estimates that 40 percent of posts show purchase intent, highlighting an opportunity for advertisers. Reddit Answers - launched earlier in 2024 - is live in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India, with broader availability expected after ongoing integration tests.

Management forecasts Q3 revenue between $535 million and $545 million. It will reduce spending on “user economy” projects to free resources for search engineering and marketing.

Background on Reddit’s search strategy

Reddit redesigned its search bar in 2022 to surface communities and comments more quickly. Reddit Answers followed in early 2024, using large language models trained on highly up-voted public discussions.
